Don Beckett - sensei

Over 24 hours has passed since I learned of the passing of one of my (and a multitude of others) beloved Reiki teachers, Don Beckett-sensei.

There, I can not believe I typed that last sentence without choking up. I did not cry or pause for a moment. I did however reflect on what I feel Don would express to me. He would tell me that it is okay, his time came, he lived his best life...and he would say to me,"be well   be well" & "Total Surrender".

I poured tears from my heart when I read of Don's death. I awakened at 4:40am the next morning mourning his passing. But then I told myself this is not what Don would want.

Don Beckett, you were truly a beautiful soul. Thank you for blessing my life with your presence and your care. Thank you for writing Reiki: The True Story.

I cherish our friendship since 2008 and will continue to appreciate all that you have taught me directly and indirectly.

I have so many email exchanges and facebook messages that I can read and reread to feel you close. I will print them all out.

It had been a month and half since our last correspondence and I was just thinking the other day that I needed to email you and update you on what's been going on and see how you were doing.

Our last communication was a little over a week ago via the Reiki group. I let you know that I appreciated your recent well written article. So you must have known you were not out of mind!

You will never be forgotten. You are in your place as one of my spiritual ancestors.

Don, I will dry my tears and I will keep your words close at heart to accompany me on my spiritual journey.

ALOHA!! Beloved friend. H U G S !!!!!

He said this was a happy moment!
Don Beckett 1953-2012

Reiki Practitioner and Teacher. Friend to many. A kind, caring, compassionate man who walked the path with humility and trust. He had a tender heart!

Energy healing and macrobiotic lifestyle was his path. His passion was for Reiki, Jourei and Shinki.

Many people all over the Reiki world appreciated him.  He is author of Reiki The True Story.

Teaching in Romania

Here is a piece from Don's website that he I thought to share...

THANKS to Roz Brown for sending me the following poem. I like it very much. I can identify with its message : ^ >. And it seems quite well suited to a site about Reiki ... because Reiki itself is a process of not-doing, a process of becoming invisible....

The Art of Disappearing

When they say Don't I know you?
say no.

When they invite you to the party
remember what parties are like
before answering.
Someone telling you in a loud voice
they once wrote a poem.
Greasy sausage balls on a paper plate.
Then reply.

If they say We should get together
say why?

It's not that you don't love them anymore.
You're trying to remember something
too important to forget.
Trees. The monastery bell at twilight.
Tell them you have a new project.
It will never be finished.

When someone recognizes you in a grocery store
nod briefly and become a cabbage.
When someone you haven't seen in ten years
appears at the door,
don't start singing him all your new songs.
You will never catch up.

Walk around feeling like a leaf. Know you could tumble any second.
Then decide what to do with your time.

An inspirational poem that Don enjoyed:
Believe in beauty....Believe in love....
